CCYSB provides emergency consultation and assessment services for children who pose a risk for suicide or self-injury. Referrals are accepted exclusively from Carroll County Public Schools during school hours (8:30am to 4:00pm) and are overseen by Nicola Hildreth, Supervisor of Student Services School Counseling. A licensed therapist is available to provide telephone consultation to the school and family, and in most cases, will schedule an in-person assessment for the same day. At the conclusion of the assessment, the therapist works collaboratively with the student and family to document recommendations, how to access supports and resources, and help facilitate a referral for direct services when possible. If hospitalization is indicated, a coordinated plan for possible admission to Carroll Hospital Center is provided. Suicide and Self-Injury assessments are offered only to students with an accompanying adult.
