CCYSB initiated Interactive Group Therapy in 2005 and has expanded the service over the last few years. The two groups are composed of male and female adolescents ages 14-18. Youth who benefit from this modality may be experiencing a variety of mental health or substance use symptoms, problems with anger or impulse control, difficulty regulating emotions, chronic family conflict, or social interaction issues. The modality is a strengths based approach to problem-solving adolescent conflicts, while also incorporating features of psychodrama and structured exercises for discussion, values clarification, and peer cooperation.
The groups meet weekly for 90 minutes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30pm and serve a maximum of 9 members per group at one time. Referrals are accepted on a rolling admission basis from local and state agencies, private providers, hospitals, schools, or parents. The group is facilitated by master’s level clinicians – Private Insurance, Medical Assistance, and Fee for Service are accepted.
