Nationwide, there are millions of ‘disconnected’ youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are not in school, not employed, and who may be homeless. Here in Carroll County, there are approximately 1,700 disconnected youth. CCYSB, Human Services Programs (HSP) and Carroll County Business and Employment Resource Center (BERC) have entered into an inter-agency partnership to provide a coordinated county-wide approach to re-engage disconnected youth and reduce youth homelessness. This team of agencies uses complementary programmatic strengths to successfully remove barriers and contribute to achieving the long-term goal of re-engaging disconnected youth. CCYSB will also deliver on-demand behavioral health services to youth when mental health, substance abuse, or psychiatric disorders are identified as a barrier to the re-engaging process. Services will be delivered at our outpatient facility or at other locations if preferred by the youth.
