The Co-Parenting Seminar (Separation & Divorce) is a two evening seminar that teaches parents to help their children adjust to critical changes in families. Designed for separated, divorced, and never married parents, the Seminar emphasizes strategies for developing healthy co-parenting relationships and minimizing conflict for both children and parents. Topics include grief for adults and children, the parent-child relationship, strategies for effective discipline, managing conflict, and the impact of changes on children at different ages. Videos of both children and parents discussing the impact of conflict on their families are shown. A panel of legal experts share their insight, experience, and expertise during the second evening. This six-hour seminar is required by judges in family law courts in many Maryland counties. The seminars are taught by experienced family counselors and therapists trained and certified to teach this course. The fee for the seminar is $100, with need-based scholarships available through the Circuit Court of Carroll County (Family Law Office).
