Group Services

CCYSB initiated an adolescent “Anger Management Group” during the Fall of 2005.  The group is composed of male and female adolescents ages 14-18.  Referrals are typically made from within the Youth Service Bureau program or by the Carroll County Public Schools , Department of Juvenile Services, and the Department of Social Services.  The anger management group meets weekly for 90 minutes and is open-ended; that is, new members may join at any time.  The group currently can enroll a maximum of 9 members.  The group uses a strengths based approach to problem-solving adolescent conflicts, while also incorporating features of psychodrama and structured exercises for discussion, values clarification, and peer cooperation.   The anger management group is facilitated by masters level clinicians. CCYSB hopes to expand group services as part of their overall strategic planning and with anticipation of a new facility more adequately designed for group therapy.  Referral or further interest in the anger management group may be directed to David Poleno, LCSW-C  at Extension # 135 or to Gary Honeman, LCSW-C at Extenstion #124.
