Family & Community Mediation Program

The  Community Mediation Program provides free mediation services to the residents of Carroll County. Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process in which neutral mediators help participants find a win-win solution to their conflict. Our goal is to empower teenagers, parents, family members and community members to make their own choices when they are involved in a conflict. Mediation is a tool used to provide alternatives to traditional methods of conflict resolution, such as the courts and counseling. While we specialize in dealing with family conflicts, such as between parents and teenagers, mediation services are also available to parents, siblings, students, senior citizens, neighbors and businesses. Our mediators are professionally trained adult and teen volunteers. Mediation can be effective at resolving most conflict situations. Mediation is voluntary, solution focused, and limited in duration.

Under the umbrella of the Carroll County Youth Service Bureau, CMP has formed strong partnerships with several Carroll County entities, such as the Carroll County Public Schools, the Bureau of Aging, Carroll County Public Library, Maryland State Police and Municipal Police Departments, the Department of Juvenile Services, Carroll County Court System, local businesses and civic organizations. Community Mediation Program also has an active volunteer Outreach Team which brings the message of mediation to the Carroll County community.
