Community Services Initiative (CSI)

CSI, also referred to as “Return/Diversion” program, provides alternative services to a child who otherwise would require placement in a residential treatment center. CSI services cover a wide range of traditional and non-traditional interventions in residential, community, and home settings. These intensive wrap-around services are provided in accordance with an interagency service plan, with the goal of meeting the child’s needs in the least restrictive environment within or close to the child’s home community.

The CCYSB CSI Coordinator provides comprehensive case management for the duration of the child’s involvement in the program.

A child may be eligible for services if the child:

  • Is currently in a residential placement and continues to need 24 hr/day services OR is recommended for a residential placement through a local lead agency.
  • Has a clinical assessment that the child’s needs for intensive services will substantially diminish within a 2 year period OR the documented commitment of the child’s lead agency to assume responsibility for funding the plan of care after 2 years.

Referrals must be made through a lead agency (CSA, DJS, DSS, LEA) to the Local Coordinating Council for eligibility consideration. For information on how to make a referral or for more program information please contact Dale Sears at 410-848-2500 x148 or 410-876-2500 x148 or e-mail dwsears@ccysb.org.
